Originally founded by Albert Fan backed by Chinese interests and an exclusive distribution agreement with Bridge, CEIC was the only vendor to offer hard to get Chinese economic data. Albert Fan gradually sold down his interests to Boston based ISI Securities which itself was bought by Euromoney in 1999 CEIC Data is a subsidiary of ISI Emerging Markets Group bought by CITIC Venture Partners and Caixin Media from Euromoney in 2018 CEIC’s product suite is delivered and accessed via their proprietary CDM Next platform which integrates the available range of time series into a single environment. This allows data can be delivered in near real-time, customised then integrated with in-house systems and stored Export formats include XML, JSON, CSV with Python, PHP and JavaScript SDKs
