1994 Harvard Business School graduate Gary Mueller founds EMIS as ISI Emerging Markets which in 1997 bought a 49% stake in Hong Kong based CEIC Data. Subsequently in 1999 Euromoney PLC acquired ISI Emerging Markets who later sold both EMIS and CEIC in 2018 to CITIC Venture Partners and Caixin Media to form a new entity ‘ISI Emerging Markets’.
