Trayport’s founders sold Trayport to GFI in 2008 for £84 Million. After BGC Partners bought GFI, the company was offered for sale to ICE however the UK regulators requested this to be divested. TMX then purchased Trayport in 2017 for US$723 Million in a swap involving TMX selling NGX and Shorcan Energy to ICE. Trayport’s network includes 40+ brokers and exchanges, 300+ trader firms, 5,000 traders subscribers and 22 third parties with clients in 40 countries located in North America, UK, Europe and Asia During 2019 Trayport increased its subscriber base by 12% In 2019 Trayport acquired Austrian VisoTech and entered the US market by partnering with Nodal Exchange with US energy contracts distributed on Trayport in 2020
